This page covers the CRA Series with Base Plate and Riser. Our most popular anchor series that meet the Cal-OSHA standards. We utilize use pre-engineered calculations to determine what the base plate dimensions and thickness need to be based on your riser height. California has specific requirements for anchor points used for window washing suspension and buildings over 3 stories or 36’ tall. Every building constructed at those heights shall have roof tie-backs permanent installed at the roof level for the purpose of securing or tying back suspended scaffold hooks, clamps and safety lines. California Code of Regulations, Title 8, Article 5, Section 3291 mandates the inclusion of permanently installed anchor for the purpose of exterior building maintenance such as window washing. There are exceptions to the rule. Including permanent roof anchors will help protect all those working at height. The design standards for Cal-OSHA Compliant anchors are:

• Roof Tie-Backs shall have at least a 2.0" inside diameter closed eye
• Tie-back assembly shall be hot-dip galvanized or afforded equivalent corrosion resistance
• Assembly and anchorage provisions adequate to sustain a 5,000-pound load applied in any direction without permanent deformation

These standards are stricter than the standard window washing regulations set forth by OSHA, ANSI and IWCA in the 49 other states. Zero deformation at a 5,000-pound load requires special consideration in the engineering, design and manufacturing of the anchor. The supporting structure needs additional attention in order to sustain these loads as well.
